Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will plan, administer and design mechanical HVAC, energy and plumbing projects
- Review work for the application of sound professional judgment and code compliance
- Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met
- Responsible for marketing, writing proposals, winning work, maintaining and developing key client relationships
- Participate in client-rich professional organizations and functions
- Train and mentor young professionals
- Perform design and energy calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications
- Familiar with the AE design process and specifications leading to construction documents
- Prepare graphical representations of designs
- Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables and supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems
- May supervise or coordinate the work of designers and other technical support personnel
- Experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants
- Experience performing field work, including identification of equipment
- Experience carrying project from Notice-To-Proceed through Construction Documents through Construction Administration, including participating in project and review meetings
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with a background in HVAC, plumbing, controls, and energy design. Fire protection design a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years experience managing tasks, and small projects
- Solid understanding of mechanical design and construction standards
- Demonstrated experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants
- Working knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing and energy design codes
- Experience in leading mechanical design team thru project
- Project Management experience a plus
Licenses and Certifications
- NM PE required or obtainable; licenses in other states a plus; Fire Protection PE a plus
- Professional registration in New Mexico required or obtainable
- Valid NM drivers license required; must meet company insurability requirements
