We invite you to join our team as an experienced Medical Support Assistant! We are excited to present a rewarding opportunity for compassionate and skilled Medical Support Assistants or Medical Assistants to join our team at the Taos-Picuris Indian Health Center, located in the beautiful Taos, NM. This is a full-time, in-person contract role that allows you to make a positive impact in our community. Here's what you need to know:

• Family Health Clinic, Medical Support Assistant
• Up to a 1-year contract, with extension options
• Full-Time hours, 8-hour day shifts
• Monday through Friday 8am-5pm
• 11 paid Federal Holidays

• Basic Life Support CLS certification is required
• Medical Office experience Required
• CMA Certification preferred
• Fully Onsite
• Previous IHS experience preferred
• Adult and Pediatric

What You'll Do:

• Plan patient visits based on providing care according to age and the provider's plan, and communicate needs to the team.
• Use medical equipment like EKGs and blood pressure cuffs to assist in collecting patient information, vital signs, and health concerns during intake.
• Administer treatments, perform dressing changes, assist with wound care, prepare patients for procedures, give medications as directed, apply orthopedic splints, and assist during exams by preparing instruments and supplies. Draw blood and test glucose levels, reporting unusual results.
• Collect and label specimens for testing; ensure accuracy in EHR.
• Report urgent patient conditions to nursing staff and respond in emergencies.
• Help patients understand health goals, including diet and medication.
• Check in and out patients, verifying registration and insurance.
• Follow safety and regulatory standards.
• Participate in clinic improvements and attend training sessions.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members.
• Manage phone calls, appointments, and cancellations.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• 2-3 Years of Experience in a medical office environment
• Family Health Medical Assistant experience needed
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Certified/licensed Medical Assistant Certificate preferred
• Current certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• Certifications and licenses must be active, unrestricted, and free of disciplinary action in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent computer and organizational skills required
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must be willing to submit to a federal background check
